Penny and I were blessed to have two very special visitors at Vermont's Most Romantic B&B, Inn Victoria. Bert & Betty were given a fantastic anniversary gift from their children...two nights in the Prince Albert Room of Inn Victoria in Chester Vermont. And what a wonderful time we ALL had!
While they were here we realized it was also Betty's birthday (29). We celebrated with them and enjoyed a great time eating Red Velvet Cake from Mam Papauls....the worlds best Red Velvet. Bert and Betty enjoyed visiting local shops in Chester as well as day trips to Weston and the Vermont Country Store, Grafton, and Jacks dinner in Chester. We wish them the best and look forward to another celebration with them in the future! They are an inspirational couple, and Lord knows, we ALL need inspirational mentors in our lives. These two surely are precious people.

Vermont Inn to Inn Walking Tours
What a GREAT time we enjoyed with six members of the Vermont Inn to Inn Walking Tour.!! Inn Victoria, an Okemo Valley lodging, is one of four Inns which have partnered to host walkers through the valley.
Here is how it works.
People from around the world, who like walking treks, come to Vermont's Okemo Vally for the splendor of the Green Mountains, clear air & water, country experiences, history and great food! They fly into a nearby airport such as Boston MA, Albany NY, Hartford CT, or Manchester NH...all within two hours of Okemo Valley. One of the Inn Keepers will pick up the hikers at the airport, drive them to Inn #1, such as Inn Victoria and then give them a nice dinner and following morning breakfast. The walk begins through rolling country hills, fields and back roads which accent the area's beauty, covered bridges, waterways, old farms etc. After 5-10 miles of walking the trail between the Inns, they are greeted by the next Innkeeper with a nice dinner and following morning's breakfast. The walkers are off again the next morning for the next inn...and the inn keeper drives their bags ahead to the next inn awaiting their owners.
Today's group was especially fun because two of the group were at Inn Victoria earlier in the year...and...our guests from Germany who were not connected with the walkers were invited by the group to walk the next day's trail.! What FUN!

Vermont Vacation Package includes High Tea
Many guests rave about High Tea at Inn Victoria, but what a pleasant surprise it is to see a Tripadvisor raving fan for this Chester Vermont Bed and Breakfast's High Tea. We have been diligent about our marketing efforts to promote High Tea in the Southern Vermont area in addition to a web based focus on potential guests from the big cities on the Eastern Seaboard. This raving fan drove three hours in a 2002 Corvette to have High Tea with us...WOW!!!
Its working! So many people have enjoyed High Tea with us since we started on Memorial Day weekend. Word is spreading through the local communities. Today we enjoyed a party of nine ladies surprising and celebrating a friend. All are from nearby Grafton. A few days from now we will be hosting a party of 20 from the local Red Hat Society.
Each High Tea consists of savories, deserts, berries, chocolates, fruits, a selection of teas.....and a visit from a dashing English gentleman dressed in his period top hat and long tail coat. What a fun time!

Wine Tasting events near Okemo Vermont
Romantic Vermont Vacations and Getaways are what we do best! Imagine however, if Inn Victoria could spice it up a bit more, by hooking you up with some local wine tasting events that prove to be first class for the area.
The Good Bus provides local tours of cheese making, wineries, and breweries of the area. Just pick your tour and the date.
The Chester Rotary is sponsoring a wine tasting event and auction on November 18 here in Chester. All proceeds go to the Local High School Scholarship Funds. We Rotarian's call this the Andrew Ladd Scholarship Fund. Last year was the first event of its kind in the area and it raised over $10,000 for the support of local school kids going to college. We hope to earn well beyond that amount this year with your participation. Join us, enjoy and give!

Hand Crocheted doily as a gift to Inn Victoria
Many guests of Inn Victoria visit this Bed and Breakfast near Okemo Vermont to relax and enjoy the taste, feel, and beauty of the many local artisans. One very special artisan visited Inn Victoria for three days earlier this summer and look at what she mailed us just a couple of days ago! ....an absolutely gorgeous hand made, multi-colored doily; a very precious gift indeed.
The Grenier's visited us in celebration of a very special 40 year wedding anniversary, Although I know they had a great time at our romantic Chester Vermont Bed and Breakfast, I do believe Penny and I had an equally enjoyable visit with them. A lovely couple with gracious hearts!
Joyce started this doily when she arrived at Inn Victoria and a few weeks later she mailed it to us with best wishes for a great future in the B&B business. WOW....what a blessing!
Thank you Joyce for your very special gift! We will cherish it for years to come.
God Bless

Simon Pearce and Inn Victoria in Vermont
Less than a 30 minute drive from Vermont's most Romantic B&B (as rated by Yankee Magazine 2009), is a Simon Pearce glass blowing store, shop and restaurant. Truly an experience to watch, the fine craftsmen and woman create beautiful glassware direct from the glass furnace to the table. What a site to behold!
Penny and I enjoyed lunch from the balcony deck which overhangs the rivers' mill dam and falls. Simon Pierce transformed this old architecturally perfect mill building into their Vermont home. This building houses their museum, electrical generation equipment, factory, (I'd call it more of an artisan shop), and restaurant. What a day!...and only 30 minutes from Inn Victoria!
Imagine a Southern Vermont getaway to tour two glass studios near Inn Victoria. Tsuga Studios is located just three miles from our front door! Nicholas Kekie is a glass artisan who's work is simply outstanding and incorporates colors in his work. Follow this link to check his work out....simply fabulous!...oh, and the second picture below is a sample of Nicholas' work.

King Arthur Flour and a Vermont Bed and Breakfast
Did you know that King Arthur Flour is a Vermont institution? Inn Victoria is less than 30 miles from the store, bakery and educational center in Norwich Vermont. We have committed to purchase all of our seasonal foods locally and the flour is no exception to that rule. My mom always cooked with King Arthur Four, Penny's mom cooks with King Arthur flour and from what I can tell....most fine bakeries cook with King Arthur Flour.
This link will take you to the educational center web link for information on educational classes. When Penny and I were there two weeks ago, the classes were full...book early! We loved the store! I told Penny before going into the store..."you are limited to one shopping cart" .....she brought home one "heaping" shopping cart full! Oh well, the prices were very reasonable and it was a fun experience! You'll see us there monthly from now on.
If you love to cook...this is a MUST visit when looking for a Bed and Breakfast in Southern Vermont.

Vermont Weddings
Tis the season for Vermont Weddings, Romantic Getaways and Vermont Elopements. In the last several weeks Inn Victoria, a Chester Vermont Bed and Breakfast has been blessed to have hosted several. As you know our specialty is in hosting intimate gatherings ranging in size from two - thirty. Although our sleeping arrangements limit us to 19, we do partner with other B&B's in the village within walking distance from our front door.
This week we hosted Matt & Liz. They were a fun couple and they had a blast....so much so that while swimming at Buttermilk Falls just NW of Ludlow on Rt # 103, Matt lost his wedding ring in the falls. Big time Bummer....for sure! Matt was not shaken, he asked a nearby swimmer if he could borrow snorkel goggles...and wow!....Matt found the ring! What a story!! What are the odds of finding that ring?
Several weeks ago Diana and Tom asked us to host their private elopement in our parlor. It was a fantastic time for all of us! They had the the big Princess Victoria room and enjoyed local restaurants and sights while in Chester Vermont.
and the list could go on and on.......
Congratulations Diana & Tom!..........and the last photo below shows the famous ring....after it was plucked from the depths of Buttermilk falls.
