Chester, Vermont is home to Inn Victoria, the home of the Prettiest Painted Place in Vermont.
Chester, Vermont is one of the top 10 Prettiest Painted Places in the Northeast.
Chester, Vermont is one of the top 60 Prettiest Painted Places in America.

No matter how you look at it, Inn Victoria sits in the Prettiest Painted Village in Vermont....and soon we hope it will be voted by a panel of judges as one of the top 12 finalists in the USA!
The Prettiest Painted Places in America is a nationwide contest in which painted homes and buildings throughout the United States are judged according to color scheme and creativity. On Tuesday Chester was named in the top ten in the Northeast and top 60 nationally, by the Paint Quality Institute. This designation is bestowed upon the top 12 nationally only once every 10 years. To date Chester is the smallest of the communities within the Northeast region that has been identified in the competition. With a population of 3500+-, it is likely that Chester may very well be the smallest of the communities in the entire competition....that is yet to be seen.
-->
The Paint Quality Institute has conducted this competition twice before,
most recently in 2000. It says the purpose is to vividly show how an attractive
paint color scheme can greatly enhance the "curb appeal" of any
structure’s exterior.
"We feel there is no better way to demonstrate the importance of
exterior paint color than to focus on these beautiful real-world communities
that take so much pride in their appearance," said Debbie Zimmer, paint
and color expert at the Paint Quality Institute. "The places involved in
our competition are a tremendous inspiration to us all, and by giving them
recognition, we hope to instill in the public a better appreciation for the
role exterior paint can play in protecting and enhancing the appearance of any
home or building."

Chester, Vermont is Nominated as one of the Prettiest Painted Places in America
Included in the list of the Prettiest Painted Places in Chester, Vermont was Inn Victoria. The
Paint Quality Institute, whose mission is to educate the public about paints
and paint performance, has been seeking to find and promote the prettiest painted
communities in America. Just edging into the deadline of August 31st, Chester's nomination was received with tremendous excitement.

In just a few days we'll all know if Chester, VT will go on to the finals. Chester may be one of the 60 finalists to be selected as one of 12 Prettiest Painted Places in America. If so, Chester will stand out as one of the smallest communities in the competition.
"We know that there are thousands of applicants, but only Chester, Vermont is worthy of the distinction within the smallest of categories. Chester has long been a community which takes great pride in the quintessential nature of the village. It would be great to see a community within the Okemo Valley Region to be selected", says Marji Graf, CEO of the Okemo Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Just two months ago, Inn Victoria of Chester, was rated First Place out of eight Most Romantic Inns in Vermont, by Lanier B&B.com. Within the last month, Inn Victoria was again recognized as one of the best run B&B’s in the country by outperforming over 8500 other B&B’s worldwide in competition for two awards from Lanier B&B: BEST for Winter Sports and Best for Afternoon Tea.
When asked why they think they were recognized for these awards, owners Penny and Dan Cote said; “Inn Victoria surely is a distinctive property, but most important is the region in which we live. The Okemo Valley Region of Southern Vermont is a tremendously powerful asset that we dearly appreciate. Without the strengths of our combined business assets of this region, Inn Victoria would be just another B&B. I think we are all blessed to have world-class ski resorts in our back yard, cross-country trails, snow mobile trails, snowshoeing, hiking opportunities, waterfalls, art galleries, restaurants, antiques…and the list goes on! The people who live and work in this part of the US are “real and caring people”. In addition, the Okemo Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce is the strongest chamber in Vermont, consistently marketing & reaching out to the large populations on the East coast, and drawing business to this region; for that we are extremely grateful.” BnBFinder.com notified us this week that Inn Victoria will receive the coveted, Guest Favorite Award for 2012. BnBFinder.com is a worldwide Bed and Breakfast directory, recognizing top performers in the Bed and Breakfast world. We are thrilled, to say the least”

When TripAdvisor Speaks, Everybody Listens.
This is especially true of the ratings Inn Victoria of Chester, Vermont has been honored with in the Okemo Lodging section of TripAdvisor's rating pages. "Once an Inn guest has entered their post into TripAdvisor, I cannot make changes to it...it stands as is"; says Dan Cote, owner of Vermont's prestigiously rated, Romantic Vermont Bed and Breakfast, Inn Victoria.
Some rating organizations allow the Inn owner to go in and remove the post if they do not like it. In the case of TripAdvisor however, the Innkeeper can't do that. "Because of this, it seems to me that the TripAdvisor ratings garner more credibility than most other rating organizations"; says Dan. "We find that most of our guests do their homework before calling to reserve a room...they seek out the opinions of others who have traveled before them. They read many TripAdvisor ratings and research various competing B & B's before they make a booking. We certainly appreciate that background check ahead of the booking."
Here are a few ratings Inn Victoria received in the last several weeks.
Reviewed August 15, 2011 Florida I love staying at B&B's whenever I can, and the Inn Victoria was BY FAR the best experience I've ever had.
“Perfect Stay”

I can't praise this place highly enough - the welcome, room, food, facilities (including hot tub!) - everything was great, and I am sure that if we had wanted anything else, Penny and Dan would have sorted that out for us too. Thanks for a fantastic stay.

Inn Victoria, of Okemo Valley Vermont, Earns a " 2011 Award of Excellence" from TripAdvisor"!! TripAdvisor has rated Inn Victoria, a Romantic Vermont Bed and Breakfast, a full five point rating out of a total possible five!!!
Penny's photo below shows a very proud smile for earning the 2010 Award of Excellence from TripAdvisor. Can you believe it?....two years in a row! I promise to blog the award again when we actually receive the certificate in the mail; and when we do, I'll be sure to include Jessica, our Assistant Innkeeper. Jessica has facilitated the 2011 award from TripAdvisor just as much, if not more than Penny and me.
More than anyone, Penny earned the 2010 award for Inn Victoria. So here she is, proud as can be. She had the award framed and now hangs on the wall with other previously prestigious awards the Inn Victoria has earned in the past. In 2009 the Inn earned "Best Romantic Bed and Breakfast in Vermont" by Yankee Magazine. In 2008 Inn Victoria earned Tripadvisors' recognition, "10 Best B&B's in the US". And as you already know, just a few months ago, Inn Victoria earned an international award from Lanier B&B.com for Inn Victoria, High Tea.

Vermont Bed & Breakfast.
"Each new Tripadvisor review we receive"; says Penny Cote, owner of Inn Victoria, is a blessing for us. The following was posted yesterday.
Reviewed June 6, 2011 - NEW The Inn Victoria in Chester Vermont is as idyllic a bed and breakfast inn as you’ll find anywhere. Nestled in south central Vermont, Chester is the quintessential small New England town. Several interesting retail shops, reasonably priced local restaurants and a village green are all within walking distance from the Inn. The famous Vermont Country Store, beautiful scenery and historical points of interest are just a short drive away.
While everything mentioned might be considered to be tempting inducements to visit this little gem of an Inn the most tempting of all are the people who operate the Inn Victoria. Inn keepers Dan and Penny Cote their cute-as-a-button daughter Rachel and their ever-perky helper Jessica are exactly the kind of people that cause my wife and I to choose a bed and breakfast over a hotel every time we plan a long weekend away. They were born to do this! Friendly and hospitable are just the beginning. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their little corner of the world and more than eager to cater to the wishes of their guests these folks get it and by get it I mean they know relaxation is the whole point of the bed and breakfast experience and they more than provide it. I would certainly be remiss not to point out the culinary abilities of the girls who rule the kitchen especially Penny. The breakfasts served to the guests here are Fabulous and the capital F was not a typo. Also the High Tea served on weekend afternoons is another gastronomic delight that is well beyond the mundane afternoon tea served at most other bed and breakfast inns
The Inn itself as its name implies features Victorian architecture and décor each room is named for Royal Family members such as Prince Albert or Princess Beatrice and the accommodations are certainly fit for a Prince or Princess. In addition to the comfortable parlor my favorite place was the front porch equipped with rocking chairs and a wind chime it was the perfect place for evening conversation and a glass of wine.
If you haven’t already guessed I highly recommend the Inn Victoria as a peaceful get away destination with its ideal location, wonderful innkeepers and inherent beauty of the Inn itself it has all the ingredients for that perfect weekend.
Thank you Perl13....we have been blessed. Penny & Dan Cote, Owners

Can you imagine this little Romantic Okemo Valley Lodging, Inn Victoria, is one of the top rated B&B's in the country and we have been blessed to celebrate our first year of ownership! Penny and I are thrilled and have expressed our appreciation to the hundreds of partners and neighbors in the Okemo Valley through a full page ad in the Vermont Journal.
In May, we introduced High Tea as a means of getting local people from the Okemo Valley into the Inn for a look, just to give them a chance to see the inside and introduce them to a friendly neighbor. Not only has that niche caught on with locals, but it has been a huge success with people from all over the east coast who now come with the anticipation of High Tea as a special part of their stay with us. Within a couple of weeks we will be announcing a national award for our High Tea...stay tuned.
Since we launched our web site in July, our business volume shot up 20%. This is a direct result of an awesome partnership with Acorn Internet Services. This one business decision alone was vital and has paid off.
Watch for an upcoming announcement about a national award
We are having fun! We LOVE what we do!...........and to all of you who have believed in us all the way, a BIG thank you to you!

Earlier this week I picked up a copy of January's SKI magazine and was not surprised to read about Inn Victoria's partner, Okemo Mountain Resort, in the news again; this time with praises from author Joe Cutts and photography by Cal Crary. An eleven page story of Okemo Mountain Resort's BEST it has to offer provides an impressive article to say the least. The mountain and its splendid attributes is of course the highlight, but then author Cutts goes on to showcase the surrounding towns of Chester, Ludlow and more, the restaurants, shops etc.
Without question, this article is a feather in the cap, and an honor for the owners of Okemo Mountain Resort. As a small business owner nearby the resort, such marketing opportunities for Okemo are also a blessing to us. We have many guests visit our Bed and Breakfast, Inn Victoria in Chester Vermont, who tell us that the conditions are consistently better than any Eastern mountain resort they have skied. These words are repeated in Cutt's article of Okemo, going on to praise the snow making and grooming:
"It's a pillar of Okemo's success, and the formula is
a simple one: Make ridiculous amounts of snow,
groom it to perfection,
then brag about it".
